A new look for the Kreisau-Initiative: Building democracy together.
02. September 2026After more than 30 years, we are giving our visual identity a new look. Together with the agency Funkhaus, we have been rethinking and redesigning our corporate identity since January 2025.

Why? Because the Kreisau-Initiative has evolved over the past decades. Our German-Polish roots and our commitment to a democratic Europe remain at the heart of who we are. At the same time, new topics, programmes, partnerships, and target groups have become part of our work. Our new visual identity reflects who we are today while staying true to where we come from.
We have a new look. What drives us and what we stand for remain the same.
Where we come from
The Kreisau-Initiative was founded in 1989 through the commitment of many people from East and West Berlin who wanted to support the establishment of an International Youth Meeting Center in Kreisau/Krzyżowa. The location was not chosen at random: During World War II, a resistance group that later became known as the “Kreisau Circle” met several times at what was then the Kreisau estate. Its members developed ideas for a democratic Europe after the end of National Socialism. This history and the values associated with it continue to shape our work today.
Our previous visual identity also reflected these roots: The logo was inspired by the facades of the Meeting Center in Kreisau/Krzyżowa, and the colors created a connection to our partner organisations in the Krzyżowa Network. While the logo has been slightly modified over the years, our overall visual identity has never undergone a fundamental redesign.
Who we are today
The legacy of the Kreisau Circle continues to be an important foundation for our work. At the same time, the Kreisau-Initiative is more international today and covers a much wider range of topics than when it was founded. Each year, we carry out more than 45 projects across Europe and work with over 100 international partner organisations. Around 1,400 people from all over the world take part in our programmes in the areas of Contemporary History & Human Rights, Inclusion, and Socio-Ecological Transformation.
Our German-Polish roots remain, but our perspective has broadened. Democracy, inclusion, sustainability, and living together fairly are issues that matter everywhere in a world facing multiple crises. And they concern us all. These are the values we stand for and share through our projects. Our new design captures exactly that.
Democracy thrives on diversity and different perspectives. Democracy is colourful. At a time when anti-democratic forces that seek to divide and exclude are gaining ground again, our projects stand firmly for an open and diverse society. Our new look reflects exactly that.

What's new?
Our signature colour, wine red, remains unchanged. It is complemented by a colour scheme tailored to our three programme areas: blue for Contemporary History & Human Rights, yellow for Inclusion, and green for Socio-Ecological Transformation.
We have also further developed our logo, typography, shapes, and visual language. In doing so, we have focused on making our communication clear, easy to read, and as accessible as possible to different audiences.
New look, same standards
What remains unchanged is our commitment: Together with our international partner organisations and our funders, we remain dedicated to providing high-quality non-formal education that empowers young people to actively shape society.
To bring this commitment to life, our work is constantly evolving in response to social issues and the concerns and aspirations of young people. Our new visual identity now gives this development a new visual language.
Starting today, you’ll see our new look not only on our website and social media channels. It will also gradually appear across our other digital and printed materials.
