Histoire Croisée (Entangled History)
Societies around the world are becoming more diverse: people from different cultures, with different backgrounds and abilities, are living closer together today than ever before. Globalisation makes this possible. But with it comes an increased risk that people will face more and more discrimination and exclusion. Globalisation is also changing the way we view history. How, for example, do we talk about the Holocaust? How do we need to reassess historical events? And how do they continue to affect people today, especially those who are disadvantaged and directly affected?
In youth encounters, young people learn to examine and question history from different perspectives. So that remembrance does not stand still, but inspires action. So that we learn to recognise discrimination early on and stand up to it with determination.
In our training, youth work professionals take a close look at existing methods of history education. They adapt the materials, develop new tools, and use them in future projects to strengthen young people’s ability to develop their own perspectives on history. In this way, we create spaces where dialogue, diversity, and respect can grow.
To help spread this knowledge, our methods are also available as a free handbook for anyone who wants to carry out their own projects.
