We celebrate 20 Years MICC! Anniversary event and Programme
The aim of MICC is to strengthen democratic processes through human rights education. During MICC meetings and trainings, young people from different countries simulate international criminal court proceedings. Assigned in advance to roles as prosecutors, defense, judges, and journalists, participants engage deeply with real crimes against humanity and international criminal law.
Yet, MICC is more than a simulation. It is a platform for sustainable learning, critical thinking, and active engagement. Since 2005, the programme has welcomed over 11,000 participants from 66 countries. MICC not only imparts valuable knowledge but also leaves a lasting impact on participants’ educational and career choices, as well as their social engagement. Numerous projects, initiatives, social actions, and networks have emerged from the programme—driven by participants committed to justice and human rights.
Programme
We take this milestone as an opportunity to say thank you. At the same time, we want to look ahead: How can we shape and promote human rights education in the future? In light of current social challenges, we aim to engage in dialogue and explore the intersection between non-formal education and the protection of human rights in today’s social contexts.
The anniversary event will begin with a keynote address by Judge Reine Alapini-Gansou, Second Vice-President of the International Criminal Court. The programme offers numerous opportunities for exchange with experts and MICC alumni. You can download the full programme here.
