Students from neighbouring countries will build teams on both sides of the border. Participating countries are: Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine.
"In Between?" consist of online workshops, a study visit, and a closing conference. The 2021 edition calls on students of anthropology, culture studies, ethnography, history, journalism, regional studies, sociology.
The dates of the workshops and study visits for participants from Germany are:
Workshops: 2021, August 31 and September 2
Study visit: 2021, September 4–11
Participants will be selected in an international two-stage recruitment process. Successful candidates will take part in online interdisciplinary workshops and lectures on the historical context of the regions. They will learn how to conduct interviews, take pictures, make professional recordings and transform them into a podcast. Subsequently, the group will be split into smaller teams and travel to the borderlands to meet representatives of local communities. During the study visit, the teams will gather visual materials and sound recordings, and will prepare a podcast documenting their conversations. All participants will present the
results of their research at a closing conference in Berlin on September 22 to 24 2021.
Workshops, board and lodging will be free of charge. Applicants are expected to cover travel expenses to the place of the study visit.
